Frequently Asked Questions

Appointments
At LeBauer HeartCare, we require scheduled appointments for each office visit. This allows us to make the most of each appointment time each day. We have learned that unscheduled walk-ins disrupt clinical activity and delay service to all patients. To schedule an appointment, please call LeBauer HeartCare at 336-547-1752 or 1-800-LEBAUER (1-800-532-2837).

What to bring to each appointment:
·    Medication bottles for all current prescriptions
·    Insurance card
·    Insurance referral (if required)
·    Co-payment or portion of your deductible (if you have one)
·    Copies of medical records from other physicians that you wish
to be added to your LeBauer HealthCare chart

Call 547-1752 or 1-800-LEBAUER (1-800-532-2837) at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule to avoid a charge to your account.

Payment
Please be prepared to pay your insurance co-payment or a portion of your insurance deductible at the time of your visit. We will file your visit with your insurance company. Please bring your insurance card and referral, if required, to your appointment. Please contact your insurance company if you have questions about your insurance coverage. You can contact Patient Accounting at 832-3677 with billing questions.

Phone Calls & Emergencies
If you wish to speak with a nurse or physician, please call LeBauer HeartCare at 547-1752 or 1-800-LEBAUER (1-800-532-2837). Our policy is to return all calls received by 4:00 p.m. before the end of our workday.

After hours, the answering service can contact the physician’s extender or doctor on call. Non-urgent calls should not be made after hours.

If you are having acute symptoms of chest pain, fainting, or shortness of breath, please call 911.

Do not come to our office if you are experiencing these types of symptoms. Instead, go to the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. LeBauer HeartCare cardiologists are on site at Moses Cone to care for our patients with emergent conditions. Every minute counts when you are in need of critical care. Arriving at our office instead of the hospital will delay your receipt of appropriate medical care.

Medications Refills
We urge you to plan ahead for your prescription needs. Please call your pharmacy at least 48 hours before you need additional medicines. Your pharmacy will contact us for authorization to refill your prescription(s) so you can pick up your medication there.

Lab Work
Patients must have an appointment to have labs drawn at the Church Street office. Fasting lab work is scheduled 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. All other lab work is scheduled 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. The LeBauer HealthCare lab at 520 North Elam Avenue will still take our patients for walk-in lab work from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Blood Pressure Checks
Blood pressure checks are from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Please bring your medications to your appointment as well as any blood pressure readings from home or other sources. Please call 547-1752 or 1-800-LEBAUER (1-800-532-2837) the day before so that we may be prepared. There is a nurse visit charge for blood pressure checks.

Medication Samples
Samples are provided to healthcare providers in small quantities, primarily for patients who are starting new medications. Since availability of samples can vary, we ask that you call 48 hours in advance if you need samples so that the nurse can check to see if we have any for you. Please wait for a reply before coming to the office to pick them up. We are not equipped to handle walk-in requests for samples.
